Office block
As part of the site redevelopment, Ashley Vale Action Group is renovating an existing office building.
The building, built in the 1960s, was used as offices by the site's former owners SGB Scaffolding. Although structurally sound it is in a poor state of repair, having been out of use for over three years and suffering from vandalism.
AVAG plans to convert the office block to bring it back into full use, including workshop/office/studio spaces which we are aiming to let to individuals, small businesses or charities living or operating within walking or cycling distance of The Yard. We have received grant funding from the ERDF Objective 2 programme (£117 K), the DTI (£10 K), Bristol City Council (£8,350) and the Greater Bristol Foundation URBAN Key Fund (£6,000) to take forward this project.
One of the key aims of the development as a whole is to minimise the need for parking and car/van use in general. To assist office block tenants, we are hoping to purchase or lease an environmentally friendly pool vehicle (an electric Citroen Berlingo van) for local collections/deliveries etc.
We operate a waiting list of prospective tenants. Applications for space are welcome from any individual/business/charity/etc from the local area. Applicants will need to demonstrate that they will fulfil certain environmental criteria such as minimising vehicle use wherever possible.
Please contact avag@ashleyvale.org.uk for more information or if you wish to be added to our waiting list.
