July 2007:Exciting times on site.
After further consultations with the local community, a planning application for the refurbishment of the old office block is now ready for submission. AVAG have begun the process of gathering a suitable group of people with the drive and enthusiasm to take the project forwards; a project manager has been identified and the directors are meeting with people who expressed serious interest. Also, the bungalows in the centre of The Yard are nearing completion, the prospective purchasers have begun work on the insides of their homes and one is already inhabited.February 2007: Bungalows Progress Update
Construction of the bungalows is now well under way. Three are now watertight, and doors and windows are in the process of being fitted back and front. Nearly all the floors and ceilings have been installed.
August 2006: Building Underway!
AVAG was delighted when planning permission was granted for building the terrace of six bungalows. Work was begun as soon as possible, and is now well underway, with the presence of party walls giving the feel of six new homes taking shape. The terrace will be built to a weatherproof shell; the shells will then be sold to six individuals who will finish the interiors of their new homes. They will literally have a roof, a basic floor to work from, walls, doors, windows and services provided to their boundary. From there, they will be partitioning the space into separate rooms, installing the services and putting in all the fixtures, fittings and finishes - they're already busy making plans! The finished homes will be two-bedroomed with a bicycle & bin store, green roofs (sedum) and solar water heating panels.
